Richard went to Grantham for half term. Miriam knocked up with months hard labour canvassing etc & going to umpteen meetings with Joe. ‘They seemed to have met with a very good reception especially at Sleaford & in the villages but Grantham with all its factories was a bit sticky in places…He said at the eve of Pole meeting at Grantham there were about 700 people…’
