Thursday was harvest festival. Canon Pym from Barford preached. He is still a bachelor ‘He would do for Joyce – I tell her – but I don’t think either is of the marrying sort.’ Sunday Mr Evans from Dunton. Raised £30 for restoration fund. Joe and Mim home on Friday. Joe had warm reception at Grantham ‘but of course they are all supporters it may be different at the public meetings. However he has a very pleasant way with him & I don’t think they will rattle him easily, if he gets heckled which he no doubt will. I think Mr L Boyd will miss him…both he & Miriam said their wrists absolutely ached with shaking hands with so many people, well well this is all new to them of course. Heard Gaitskell no mention of Persia.
