Over a week since visit to Astrope. Sunlight extra bright because haven’t had much for a long time. Hectic week – washing, Mothers’ Union, opening of the Moot Hall. Service by the Bishop of Lichfield 'he gave a rattling good sermon with many quotations from Pilgrims Progress - some of them quite racy' Joyce did the flowers 'she had ordered some reddish pink gladioli fromt the nursery & we have lots of blue & white iris, white lilac etc in the garden' Mrs Bagshaw sent a large pewter bowl & jug 'the idea now is to have wire netting & crumple it up & put in the bottom to stick your flowers in.
