  • Scope and Content
Sorry Molly and Edgar have been sick. ‘You seem to have done well for your soldiers parcels – we made nearly £30 I believe, but I do not have anything to do with it.’ Glad to hear Molly has learnt Cheese making ‘I should like to be able to but I guess there is too much detail to suit me’. Enjoyable day in town with Ike and Joyce. ‘Ike told me I could have either a fur coat or a good set of furs. Well I tried several coats on – Coney Seal but I don’t care for that much & thought perhaps it wasn’t much good having a brown one – eventually I had a set of very good black bear…Saw King & Queen also P of W & Princess Mary – Alexandra & Victoria going to the House of Lords – went in St Pauls, Westminster Abbey etc. had several bus rides – to the Tower etc just to show Joyce round. Saw no end of German guns in the Mall & Green Park or Constitution Hill. Did Trafalgar Square & altogether had a very good time. I hadn’t been for 3 years.’ Elsie’s relationship. Trouble with getting fruit for mince meat. ‘Went to the Red X Farmers Sale on Saturday – the Duke opened it – it was very good fun. I always thought motoring was cold work in winter, but its much warmer than driving as the engine keeps your feet warm & the screen keeps the wind off-it’s a bit draughty at the back.’
