  • Scope and Content
‘So many thanks for the very nice grapes and good wishes which you sent with your letter. I spent a very pleasant and happy birthday. We have been very busy getting things a bit straight at the Folly and making room for Edith’s belongings which seem numerous if not of much value, and what a week we have had, so very dismal and wet, yet in spite of that I have been feeling quite cheerful it is nice to have Edith at home for a bit, company for both, at the same time I don’t wish to be selfish and I do wish that they may both have a change. I am sure it would be nice for them. We seem to be having Autumn come very quickly but we must not mind if the Zepps don’t hurt us. We have seen nothing of them yet, you people seem to know something of them, and I had a letter from Minnie and she said Edgar saw it and she saw the flames. What a blessing they succeed in bringing them down. We had a big wash this week from the Folly and our own and what a day & week it has been but weve got through. I think Elsie hopes to come on Tuesday but she will write no doubt. I am sorry to hear your maids are both leaving, but hope you will meet with someone suitable. Our little slavey gets worse the less she has to do the longer it takes to do it, but she is staying on. We expect Tom & Lil up tonight have not seen her yet, I wonder how she gets on Daisy is not very well one eye is bad, and Harrold has some places on his hand seems not very strong so cannot start school a good thing this weather, best love to all from Grandma’
