    Box End House (Snipe Hall): owned by the Carter Family Kempston Bury: built c. 1850 by Talbot Barnard. Previously the mansion house of the Cater family, the Place, stood nearby, built by William Cater c. 1624. Sold to William Long in 1801 who sold to Talbot Barnard c. 1850 and the Place was demolished. Kempston Hoo: Built c. 1840 by T.J. Green; sold to Talbot Barnard c. 1849, now demolished. Kempston Manor: the old red brick house was pulled down by Rev E. Williamson c, 1814 and a new house built, architect J. Wing. Later occupied by the Civil Defence. Kempston House, Green End; believed to have been built by Sir William Long. Kempston Grange: probably built by Henry Littledale who was living there in 1845. It descended to his nephew and on his death was sold to Harold Howard. The Howards bequeathed it to the Urban District. Kempston Lodge: home of Henry and William Stuart, MPs for Bedford 1841-1868. Austin Canons: Probably built by Rev P.W. Wyatt, c. 1890 Barracks: built 1875-6 School; built 1869, ceased to be a school in 1920, site of Cosmic Crayons
