  • Scope and Content
At the time of writing (August 2013) only the first eight volumes, 1946-1961, have been deposited. The diary entries provide a detailed picture of work on a primarily dairy and poultry farm in Bedfordshire during the post World War Two era. The regular entries usually describe changes in weather, and work activities carried out by workers/members of the family ( e.g. carting, milking, fence repair) often denoted by initials, problems with machinery and vehicles, and farm animals giving birth with number of young. More unusual entries are noted at item level.
