After the last two general elections that succeeded each other so rapidly, the writer hoped there would not be a repition so soon. Only news in the village is the arrival of a dog called Chambers who belonged to the late Duchess of York - sister [Louisa] desired to take charge of one of the numerous canine family, so the Duke sent for the animal 'who is more like a great tabby cat than a dog...'
