Explains about Lady Malmsbury [Harriet Maria Harris] and the French Abbe - Lady Malmsbury had stated that she would be afraid to inhabit Wrest without a man, and that if she was Lady Lucas she wouyld keep an Abbe to read to her by day and guard her by night. Sorry Mr [Charle Philip] Yorke is involved in so much expense and trouble. His predecessor the ex Secretary at War [William Windham] has been defeated at Norwich [in the 1802 general election]. Hopes Francis Burdett will not succeed. Lord Francis Osborne was elected at Lewes. Further comments about the election including James [James Edward Harris, later 2nd Earl of Malmesbury] being brought in for one of the Duke of Leeds boroughs [he was member of parliament for Helston 1802–1804]
