Reference to Alleyne FitzHerbert, 1st Baron St Helens succeeding in his mission [He went to St. Petersburg in April 1801 to congratulate the Emperor Alexander I of Russia on his accession to the throne, and to arrange a treaty between England and Russia] Brief comment about the situation in Paris. Writer has spent a quiet week at Hurn Court, which revived many youthful recollections. Brother talks of returning in the autumn. Writer's brother [James Harris] and his son return to Park Place tomorrow. The writer remains at Durnford for 2 months, then has a Dorset and Somerset tour. Will not be able to take up kind invitation to Wrest this year. 'Miss Robinson is quite delighted at Lady Grantham's at Putney. I find the marriage is to take place this week.' Miss [Maria] Sloane's marriage with Mr [Joseph] Jekyll is declared. 'Youth and beauty have no charms for her.'
