    Letter from Katherine Gertrude Robinson, to 'Lady Bell' [Amabel, Lady Lucas]. Has found 'L'Angeleida di Erasmo di Valvasone' and will send it to Town by Lady Harris to be delivered to Lady Lucas. It must be returned to the Bisop of Ely [James Yorke] when Dr. [Thomas] Warton has finished with it.

  • Scope and Content
    Warton is an old friend of the writer's brother and was also a fried of her father, and should have every assistance for his new publication of Milton. [Refers to Thomas Warton (1728 - 1790), an English literary historian, critic, and poet. He was the Poet Laureate of England from 1785 to 1790.] Mr [Frederick] Robinson's leg continues mending, and he has been riding. He has escaped gout, and his health has not suffered for the confinement, except for an indigestion after dinner yesterday. He is now playing cribbage with their guests. Writer has had no letters from The Hague since the 25th, so only know of the surrender of Amsterdam from the papers. The writer rejoices in the successes in Holland for the share her brother has had in them. [The writer's brother, James Harris was envoy to the Hague between 1784 and 1788.] Pleased to hear that the Carews have a son and heir - is sure Mr John is very happy.
