    The candidates for Knaresborough are [Henry] Rich, [Benjamin] Rotch, [John] Richards, [Benjamin?]Rawson and [Andrew] Lawson, which the writer thinks a charming combination of names. Mary [sister, Mary Vyner] is going on quite well. Writer is going to pay a visit of some days to friend Mrs Stansfield, sister to Col. Markham. Mr Stansfield is brother to Mr Crompton, Markham’s antagonist in the election. Mrs Stansfield is a delightful person and has a pretty place near Leeds. Mrs Laurence is well, but eager about the election. Lady Maria Conyngham is going to be married to Sir William Somerville. She is a great match for the King [George IV] left her money, and they say she will inherit more from her Uncle. [Dating note: in the election the first contest was on 10 December 1832 and the last contest on 8 January 1833]
