- Scope and ContentWriter was last night at a ball at Lord Hertford’s [Francis Charles Seymour-Conway, 3rd Marquis of Hertford] in Regents Park – the garden was illuminated and the ball room was built in the shape of a tent and looked very brilliant. Hears every day from Mary, who is very happy [having recently married Henry Vyner]. Henry’s eldest brother has been staying a few days with her. Papa goes there tomorrow for dinner, and to Bedford the next day. Mary and Vyner have been fishing in the evenings and caught 6 fish the other day. Mention of Lord Mahon’s book ‘History Of The War Of The Succession In Spain’, which would interest Lady de Grey. [Philip Henry Stanhope, 5th Earl Stanhope, styled Viscount Mahon between 1816 and 1855].
