  • Title
Letter from Anne Florence Robinson, Wrest Park, to Amabel, to Countess de Grey. Writer is shocked that she did not acknowledge the box of bibles and money sooner. All arrived safely.

  • Production date
    From: 1831 To: 1831
  • Scope and Content
Comments about a book which Lady de Grey considers ‘naughty’. Not yet heard Papa talk of moving to Town. As long as the winter lasts he seems rather to wish to remain at Wrest, as ‘our broth and care are of use to the poor people about us – and anything that keeps them all quiet is an advantage.’ Lady Harriet and Mr Baring have been staying [Henry Bingham Baring & Lady Augusta Baring]. Mr & Mrs Lister come tomorrow; she was Miss Villiers [Maria Theresa]. Her husband is cousin to Lord Ribblesdale and wrote a novel which was rather admired called Granby [Thomas Henry Lister]. Lord Morpeth [George William Frederick Howard] comes on Wednesday. [Dating note: comment about bibles and money possibly follows from request for money in L30/11/233/38]
