    Anne Odell received her letter from Thomas Turner to the anger of her husband. Discusses proposal to send Thomas Odell to visit Thomas Turner. Father is often poorly. Farming has been difficult. John Odell has been living with John Turner and Father through the harvest and has now returned to school. Anne Odell forced to hide ale from her husband. Weather has been favourable, but barley harvest has been poor. Hay shortage and turnip crop irregular. Rain frequent but water scarce. Wished to send a team to plough at the Bedford Agricultural Meeting, but only members can compete. London & Manchester Railway "...is too weighty a concern to be gone on with yet I think it the most desirable one for Trade." Ends letter with giving congratulations on the marriage of Thomas Turner.
