  • Scope and Content
Dined at Port Eliot last sunday; Lady Eliot [Caroline] looks remarkably well. Brought two of the Miss Lemons back from Port Eliot, and another two join them at Antony tomorrow on their way to Town; Sir William and Lady Lemon [Jane, nee Buller] are in Town already. Their own house is being painted and they have a lodging in Parliamant Street. Lord & Lady Hardwicke [Philip Yorke and Elizabeth] are in the same predicament and in a hotel. St James' Square will look very smart as Lord Falmouth has been painting and cleaning his house. [George Boscawen, 3rd Viscount Falmouth]. Writer would like to see Charlotte [her sister] and to be of use to her in the absence of Mr Colleton [Charles Garth Colleton, husband of Charlotte], but Papa would not be happy to spare 2 daughters at a time. Has heard that Charlotte's spirits are reasonably good now, but that she has had a bad cough. Writer is pleased she has a companion in Comtesse de Hompesch. Mrs Charles Yorke [Harriet] only intends to be in Town until he can find a tenant for her house. Writer is afreaid there is little hope for poor Miss Manningham [sister of Harriet Yorke]. Aunt Somers has left a fortnight ago, but the writer delivered Lady Lucas' message about Hawksley. Aunt Somers will be in Town on the 19th.
