- Date free textFriday. Not dated.
- Production dateFrom: 1820 To: 1820
- Scope and ContentHas seen Sir William Knighton; 'he was commanded by His Majesty to go as they were all in a grand fright with Clark being out of town who would have attended her - all is going on as well as possible and the King made very happy by it. It was his desire that she should be called Elizabeth, and Sir William thinks her likely to live.' [Believed to refer to the birth of Princess Elizabeth of Clarence (Elizabeth Georgiana Adelaide, daughter of Prince William, Duke of Clarence and St Andrews (later King William IV), and his wife, Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.] Writer considers it must have been very difficult for Sir William to cope with a delicate constitution that he was not acquainted with. Thanks Lady Grantham for the almanac. [Dating note - Princess Elizabeth was born December 1820]
