Letter from Jacqueline Charlotte, Comtesse de Hompesch to Lady de Grey, Wrest Park. Heard from Mrs J Yorke [Catherine] a few days ago giving a good account of passage and stating that she intended staying in Malvern about 10 days longer.

Writer is quite annoyed with the King for giving his Royal Command to Sir William Knighton to accompany him to Hanover - he goes on Monday with his Majesty. Dr Gooch has been dreadfully ill and is out of Town. Mention of the precarious state of health of Lord Hardwicke. Unpleasant event at Eastnor Castle - the housemaid went out of her mind and went to Lady Eastnor's room in the middle of the night telling her somebody wanted to murder her. 'She has been sent ... to some place of confinement ... but the doctor does not think her likely to recover speedily.' 'It is religion has turned her brain.' Comments about a thunder storm. Thanks for offer of venison and partridges.
