  • Scope and Content
Does not think Mr Carew is well, though he does not wish to talk of it. Makes comment about his symptoms. Is going to stay with the Clives for a few days next week. They have taken a place near London [Hampstead]. Has therefore 'jilted' Mrs P Yorke [Anna Maria] and consequently in dread of seeing the Dowager Lady Somers [mother of Anna Maria], who comes to Portland Square on Tuesday - she is bound to express her disapprobation. Writer thinks that if Mrs Yorke is not offended, the Dowager Lady Somers has no right to be. Mrs [Anne] Antrobus has a fine boy going on delightfully - writer was there yesterday and met Lady Anne Barnard, who said that she rarely goes out and never leaves Town. [Anne Barnard, nee Lindsay, is Aunt of Ann Antrobus, who was daughter of Hugh Lindsay]. Writer believes all the Hardwicke family come to St. James' Square this week prior to Lady Elizabeth Stuart's departure.
