- Scope and ContentThe weather has been intolerably hot. Breifly describes a boat trip to Eel Pie Island and picnic. Had been going to sail for a week in the Custom House yacht, but unfortunately Mr Buller was obliged to go to Cornwall owing to the death of the mayor of West Looe. Mention of Mr & Mrs Hulse still being at Richmond [Charles Hulse and wife Maria, nee Buller]. Accepts kind offer of venison. Writer has been suffering from a sore throat. PS The Carews are at Hagley, and going on much better [Reginald Pole-Carew and 2nd wife Caroline Anne, nee Lyttelton].
