Letter from Jacqueline Charlotte, Comtesse de Hompesch to Lady Lucas, Wrest Park. Is able to give a good account of Mrs Colleton [Charlotte Jemima, nee Carew], following the birth of daughter. She is not able to feed the baby herself so free from the anxiety and has nothing to do but gain strength.

The weather has been intolerably hot. Breifly describes a boat trip to Eel Pie Island and picnic. Had been going to sail for a week in the Custom House yacht, but unfortunately Mr Buller was obliged to go to Cornwall owing to the death of the mayor of West Looe. Mention of Mr & Mrs Hulse still being at Richmond [Charles Hulse and wife Maria, nee Buller]. Accepts kind offer of venison. Writer has been suffering from a sore throat. PS The Carews are at Hagley, and going on much better [Reginald Pole-Carew and 2nd wife Caroline Anne, nee Lyttelton].
