- Scope and ContentMention of heat and storms. Tryphena was oppressed by the heat and very unwell when they were at Cirencester. She is now improved following a violent storm and 2 days of heavy rain. Nephew William Bathurst has had influenza severely and Lady [Georgianna] Bathurst is now ill with it. Hopes none of Lady de Grey’s family have caught it. Comments about Rammohun Roy making representation to Lord Lansdowne [Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquis of Lansdowne] Has read the life and remains of Bishop [Daniel] Sandford, late Bishop of Edinburgh. Makes comments. Reference to the course of the Niger river having been ascertained. Old friend Mr Bathurst (of Sydney Park) is ‘but indifferent. He is still digging on the site of the old Roman camp and almost daily finds some coins.’
