Title
Notes made in 1980 on the cycle track on Kimbolton Road built between 1885 - 1901 by Mr Henry Whitbread landlord of the Old George Public House from 1897-1919. On this track the 25 mile championship was won by Arthur Gell of Riseley and many famous cyclists competed. In 1915 it was known as the Old Sports Ground and was the scene of a boxing exhibition featuring Jimmie Wilde and Billie Wells. The cycle track was closed by 1926 when the site had become allotments.
