Prosecution of Samuel Colgrave of Thurleigh for stealing a gun belonging to John Gale of Thurleigh, carpenter. Information of John Gale, Edward Wildman, John Jefferies, John Asplin, John Farr of Fenlake, Cardington; examination of Samuel Colgrave.

John Gale: had a gun which he kept at the Jackal public house, Thurleigh. He allowed Edward Wildman to use it when he liked. Wildman told him the gun had been stolen. Later John Jefferies and John Asplin told him that they had found the gun at John Farr's house at "Fenlock", Cardington. Edward Wildman: Samuel Colgrave had been outside his father's shop window and asked whether he left the gun in the empty house all night. After it was stolen Colgrave advised him to search for it "as it would be far gone from thence". John Jefferies and John Asplin: information similar to that in QSR1830/495-498. John Farr: bought the gun for 10 shillings and a pot of beer. Samuel Colgrave: will not say anything until the Sessions.
