Has heard little of Sir John Paterson since the Greenlaw election, but is told that he will petition upon the compromise between Mr Renton and the writer. Reference to Polwarth's health and his being treated by Hunter. Writer is at present in Cumberland on a jaunt with his mother and sister; intends to be back for the Kelso races.
