    the house at Ampthill was made over to Mrs Wingate by her husband in consideration of her giving up her right in a farm ‘part Exodmode’ in occupation of John Roade, which was sold by her husband, with other cottages belonging, value £30 or £40 per annum and which was given her by her husband as a marriage portion and sold by her husband when he built the house, and so the house was settled on her. She also had an annuity [£4 per annum] ‘of Wotton’ by an agreement with her son Britton [Button]. ‘... made by one Mr Chate of the Tempell; Mr Illoxdend that lives with the Lord North rentill who was Mr Chats executor.
