Lord Torphichen is staying - a sensible young man and very well informed about what relates to America, and exceedingly happy at being no longer a prisoner. [He was taken prisoner following the Second Battle of Saratoga]. His brother Hugh and Mr Duncan came on Thursday. Hugh hopes soon to get into the army; Mr Duncan is going to the East Indias. Reference to books and the card game 'Pope Joan'.
