- Scope and ContentFrancis Ambridge: Mr Whittamore struck him on the head twice with his staff despite the fact that he told him the row was over. He then struck at Whittamore but did not know whether he hit him or not; he was led away by friends. Joseph Pearce: he was not stripped, only his smock frock off; never struck Whittamore; never swore at him. Calls Mr Fox. Thomas Fox: saw the disturbance but had no share in it. Persuaded Joseph Pearce to "give over", and told him the constable was coming. The fighting stopped before the constable arrived, but Benjamin Titmus was still stripped. Whittamore hit and knocked Ambridge down with his staff although he was not stripped nor fighting, then Whittamore crossed the ring and struck Titmus.
