Comments about the weather. Has heard that the Duke of Atholl [John Murray, 4th Duke of Atholl] is going abroad, and the match consequently put off [He married Jane Cathcart 26 Dec 1774]. The writer hopes Miss Cathcart will polish his Grace a little. Death of Lord Clive [Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive]. Mr Frazier visited before his return to Geneva. Brief news of friends and acquaintances. '...we have done with buildings. You would be charmed to see our farm yard, littered with fern, and full of cows, hogs and poultry, with straw, cottages and turnips in plenty.
