    Elizabeth has been at Court today - only 23 ladies there including the Queen and maids of honour, and about 6 gentlemen. Comments about hiring a housekeeper and laundry maid for 'my dear daughter' [Amabel, Lady Polwarth]. Mr Burnett is unwell - all the doctors agree that the complaint proceeds from his wound. Lord Marchmont writes that he has just returned from Lord Rochfords at half past midnight. Describes proceedings in the House. Wishes to speak to Lord Hardwicke 'before I put my irons ... into the fire.' 'I am assured, that in order to reward impertinent opposition, Charles Fox is to be Lord of the Treasury, Jenkinson vice treasurer, Edgecombe to have the pensioners. and Lord Holland made an earl.'
