    Writer approves of Mr Frasier taking a dose of physick before he begins the spa water. They say in England that the peace is to be made with Hyder Ali [de facto ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore in southern India]. Lord Marchmont's speech in the House of Lords gained him great honour. The Wauchope family have gone to Metz. Everyone is busy preparing for the Queen's birthday. The writer is to go at noon and to the ball. Col Pringle has dined on two evenings and each time tey had a barrel of oysters. Comments about the Gore family - Mrs Gore is in the same dismal way she used to be. 'She does not even see her own children except Miss Gore, who she never suffers to stir out of the room from her.' Political changes - The Lord Chancellor is out, and Mr Yorke has not yet returned an answer whether he will accept the Seals. Lord Huntingdon is dismissed [as groom of the stool] and his gold key given to Lord Bristol. Lord Coventry has regigned as Lord of the bedchamber and the Duke of Beaufort resigned as master of horse to the Queen. Lord Willoughby de Broke, another lord of the bedchamber, voted yesterday against the Ministry; it is expected he will resign also.
