Writer has had a cold. [Walter] Scott has been bad all last week with a putrid fever. John Pringle was called in, and it is hoped he is now recovering. Anne [Scott] is also ill in another room. Received a letter from Mrs Wauchope - they had not left Spa on the 14th of November. Mr Wauchope finds great benefit from the waters. General news of the whereabouts of friends.
