- Scope and ContentThe Duke of Marlborough has the Duke of Newcastle's ribbon, and the Marquis of Lothian a green ribbon, and is one of the sixteen [representative peers elected from the Peerage of Scotland to sit in the House of Lords] Lord Cherterfield's son, Mr [Philip] Stanhope has died. 'My Lord' has holidays till the 16th, when the Douglas cause begins. Mr Scott has sold his new house in Edinburgh, and does not intend going there again; they talk of bringing Hughie to school in England and coming up with him in the spring. 'Mr Wilkes now puts up for alderman; to be sure there never was so impudent a wretch.'
