  • Scope and Content
Received a letter from [Hemel]Hempstead with a melancholy accountof old acquaintance the Walkers. It seems the eldest has come of age, and came to Berkhamstead to celebrate his birthday, and gave five guineas to the ringers, with whom he sat up all night to drink; the next day he was sent for to Dunstable mto see his brother who was dying, and as soon as he arrived there dropped down dead, and his brother died soon after. General news of social plans and visitors. 'I believe Mr Trotter will never part with his land., but it is the less matter, as yor Papa's estate already lies all round thye house very agreeably, to be sure it would be better if he did not come in between so much of it.' Hope to make Greenlaw a market town.
