- Scope and ContentAunt Barker and Betsy have gone to spend a fortnight at Mr Sears. The Gore family are all at Tring, but are not to see any company this summer. Friend Tom has at last got a cornacy in Cholmondly Dragoons. Lady Anne [Paterson] and Miss Purves came last Sunday and stayed till Tuesday. Dined at Mr Dickson's; his house is now quite furnished and most elegant. Miss Charters entertained with singing and the organ. Master Don is to come from the college and dine tomorrow. Lady Don's brother, Mr Waring has met a great misfortune - his house has burnt to the ground. Have got a very handsome new billiard table. Asks how worship and church is conducted in Geneva, and in what language.
