Hearing that Crossley was concerned in the theft of wheat [QSR1830/400-404], he advised him to "split" and Crossley answered "If I were to split what benefit would it be to me. I should suffer the same as the rest of them". Examination of William Crossley: was with Hickson when he was dressing the wheat.
