    The box of books is be directed to Alexander at Lausanne. The day Alexander left, a letter arrived from Monsieur Garzert, which the writer will forward. Sends compliments to Mr Fraser. From Lady Marchmont: 'Your Papa was much pleased with your letters, being so particular. Continue to observe every direction he gives you and there is no doubt but you will do very well.' [Half] sister Lady Diana Scott is again delivered of a dead child. Grandfather [Windmill Crompton?] came to town on Sunday and returns today. Has been concerned about Crafts[?] having heard she was very ill in the country, but she came to London on Sunday, and though still weak, will be able to accompany the writer to Scotland. Mr Falconer has succeeded extremely well in the drawings, he is to make copper plates of them; they are done in a new way, it is not possible to distinguish the plate from the drawing. Mrs Burnett is uncertain whether to go to Plymouth or Scotland. Letter torn: mention of a Newfoundland dog.
