- Scope and ContentLong letter regarding restoration of the writer's reputation after his dismissal by Lord Marchmont. Also refers to Sir John Paterson and marriage settlements. New voters cannot appear till the next head court - a man must be a year and a day before he can come onto the roll. For some time there has been an intention to set upon a third candidate, and a meeting is set up next week. It is not probable they will succeed, nor likely that they will argee on the choice of one person, but all profess to agree to wish to prevent my Lord's candidate. The objection to Hugh Hepburne-Scott is his being the grandson. Comments about the election chances of Sir John Paterson.
