    Letter from John Campbell, 3rd Earl Breadalbane, Lord Glenorchy to Alexander Hume-Campbell, 1st Baron Hume of Berwick. Sent from Edinburgh. Writer has been suffering from a recurrance of previous back pain and pain in one knee; though it has now abated he is weak, and can only get in and out of a carriage with assistance.

    Mention of Edinburgh and Glasgow mobs. 'At Glasgow the Argyllshire Fencibles made use of their broadswords very effectively both by cutting and with their iron hilts, and twas said that several ears and teeth were found next morning in the street, but I believe this is a fiction.' Further descriptions given. Captain [William] Bayne has a new 74 gun ship called the Alfred. Lady Glenorchy has been confined a fortnight with rheumatic and nervous complaints.
