- Scope and ContentThe Living of Hemel Hempstead has become vacant by the death of Hughes, and Lord Marchmont has secured it for Mr [William] Bingham on condition of his resigning his Essex Living to ‘one of us. This will make an addition of about £90 a year to our present income….we ought to be very thankful for it till something better can be provided. ' As yet undetermined whether the writer or Mr Smyth is to succeed Bingham. Establishment of Charlotte is the object of all the writer’s wishes. Comments about whether Smyth would accept ‘Bingham’s little Living.’ The 25th Regiment has just come into the town into winter quarters, and the Liverpool Blues join them tomorrow.
