Scope and Content
Note at front of manuscript say 'all transactions and other mateial in rolls have been noted & arranged in chronological order as far as the early 18th century. The number of the roll or document in which material appears is placed at the top right hand corner of each page. The terminology used in this calendar is not consistent, but the term 'transfer' has been used in preference to 'cpnveyance' (which implies a freehold transaction) when ownership passes from one family to another, presumably by sale; 'admission' is used to distinguish inheritance by an heir; & 'settlement' for a family arrangement. The index of personal names covers only the pre-Reformation period. References as to years & the number of the transaction within the year.
