  • Scope and Content
Report on various members of the Plumptre family, including Tryphena, who is in health but with no prospect of being released for some months from her horizontal position. R B Plumptre is most anxious about his eldest sister, who he says looks ill and worn out, having all the other parts of the family to attend to. When a girl, this sister was told by a gypsy that she would die in her 31st year; she is now turned 30 and has gone home unwell, probably in consequence of the working of her own mind. General Mariot and his lady called and left the list of pictures at the Royal Academy. The vicar of Northleach is Rev. [John] Kempthorne. Pleased to hear that Gerard Carew is better; the writer was in fear about his recovery. [Possibly refers to Gerald Pole-Carew, son of Reginald Pole-Carew and his second wife Caroline Anne]. The writer sets out to visit Anna Maria Yorke of the 2nd June, as the estate audit is on June 1st.
