- Scope and ContentComments regarding Lady St. Germans' health - the writer considers that her whole frame is deseased and the suffocating coughs she suffers from are proof of it. Reference to Dr Croft and his fatal end [Sir Richard Croft, 6th Baronet, a physician to the British Royal Family and the obstetrician to Princess Charlotte who became famous due to his role in 'the triple obstetrical tragedy' of 1817. He killed himself with a gun on 13 Feb 1818]. Young sailor Buckle is kicking his heels as usual. 'He is very wise about this voyage to the north pole which he fears will end fatally from what he experienced himself coming home from Halifax...' Reference to letters from grandson John Thomas Waddington, who was very grateful for Lord Hardwicke's recomendation of him to Lady Elizabeth Stuart.` P.S on separate sheet, part torn off: John Thomas Waddington is anxious that his acknowledgements should be made to Lord Hardwicke for his introductory letters to Paris, which have been of the greatest use to him.
