- Scope and ContentRobert Plumptre is to be the successor to John Broome in the parish. Comments relating to his religious views. The writer is concerned about his voice. 'The smallness of the income ought ot make me satisfied that I have so respectable a clergyman who will actually reside. The Broome family are to move befire Christmas to a property they have taken between Upton and Woscester, not 10 miles from Forthampton. They are left in good circumstances - the two girls fortunes are in land, but there is money in the funds. Comments about the Tewkesbury stocking weavers. Grandson Charles Yorke goes to Cambridge [University]. It is now thought proper that he should have a private tutor. The expenses for the three years young men remain at college are very high. Mr Hagget is to be the tutor, under the direction of Mr Monk, the Greek professor and college tutor. 'The young officer in the guards would be the most expensive but for the Dowager Lady Somers kindness to her and my grandson - his income paying for little more than his Regimentals.'
