- Scope and ContentApplications for the writer's preferrment followed close on the death of Broome, including a letter from the Dean of Gloucester in favour of his son Robert Plumptre, who has no house with his Living in Lincolnshire and would be glad of a settled residence. Discusses the character and suitablity of Plumptre and his competitor, a friend of the Bishop [not named]. The writer had thought Commeline would have offered himself, but he has not done so yet. Reference to the Keene family who were staying in Malvern. Comments relating to civil unrest; weavers in Tewkesbury demanding a raise in wages. The masters cannot afford to pay their men sufficient to maintain their families in a town. [Reference to Peterloo massacre at St Peter's Field, Manchester and subsequent events]. George Waddington, with his wife and sister are coming to stay in a fortnight before going to Eastnor. Laetitia Beauchamp has gone to the west with her Mother and sister Mary, who it is feared is in a deep consumption.
