- Scope and ContentMr Cocks laments that the accident happened on 30th September and has therefore precluded up to the present all pheasant shooting. Mention of Mrs Layton, late Lydia Plumptre; her family take little notice of her. Mention of other family members. Reference to health of King George III. Grandson John Thomas Waddington was prevented from visiting at the expected time by the illness of his brother's curate; George therefore could not stir from home but was very desirous to see his brother the traveller. The writer now expects John Thomas Waddington any day, and indeed all the Waddingtons, except the old Aunt. Dowager Lady Somers [Anne Cocks] and Miss Smith come to stay for 4 days on the 1st of November; granddaughter Mary Ann must exert herself to return Miss Smith's attentions to her at Shortgrove. Mrs [Agneta] Yorke is always pleased with pheasants or partridge as Lord St.Germans can send her only hares and woodcocks. The writer saw Lord St.Germans when at Eastnor and thought he looked in health, though thinner. Separate sheet with part of a letter from P J Broome relating to Lydia Plumptre.
