- Scope and ContentNeighbour Mr Broome went to Tewkesbury; the Severn had flooded and he was obliged to go by boat. On his return in the boat with some other gentlemen and 3 men to navigate, the wind rose and the waves ran high; the master was 'in his liquor and confused, yet so obstinate that he would guide.' They were carried above Mr Dowdeswells ferry, and at the passing to the junction of the Avon and the Severn, where the water is very deep, the waves dashed them against a tree. The boat was eventually landed near the Beehive. Writer has received her accounts and finds that her principal tenant, Pensome, is nearly a bankrupt; he must be dismissed, as in a few months he will owe £1,000. After his mother's death he will have a small estate left him in the Will that was lost [see L30/11/339/383a & L30/11/339/384]; in the meantime most tenents jog on as well as can be expected with little abatement of rent and time on the writer's part. Account of church missionary meeting. [Second page torn with section missing.]
