- Scope and ContentDetails of arrangements the writer has made for Lady Lucas' visit to Short Grove. The present visitors at Short Grove are the Dowager Lady Cocks and Miss Jane Cocks, youngest sister of Mrs Joseph Yorke. Mention of the Bible Society - the Royal Dukes having placed themselves at the head of it has been of no use to the cause. Norris' book is treated with contempt, though the Bishop of St. Davids is said to be preparing one which is expected soon to appear.* The writer now takes in the reports of the Missionary Society, but could not get that for September - requests Lady Lucas bring it to Short Grove. *Notes: Henry Handley Norris's best known work is ‘A Practical Exposition of the Tendency and Proceedings of the British and Foreign Bible Society, in a Correspondence between the Rev. H. H. Norris and J. W. Freshfield, Esq.,’ Thomas Burgess, Bishop of St David's founded the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.
