Comtesse de Hompesch has decided to visit, but has been told she will need to take herself to Castleditch if Lady Lucas decides to honour the apartments she had last September. The Comtesse travels with the Dowager Lady Somers [Anne Cocks] who is carrying on to Cheltenham, and brings one of the Miss Carews. The Dowager will make a short visit to the writer at the beginning of September, at which time the offered venison would be most acceptable.

- Scope and ContentGeorge Waddington is expected on 8th August with a friend of his, son of Sir Thomas Beauchamp[-Proctor?]. They are at the moment on a tour of North Wales. Last week, Mrs Thomas Waddington [Anne] was seized with a sudden and violent inflamation which 'the surgeon apprehended might be of a fistula kind; it did not prove to be that, nor is the disorder merely external but is supposed to be gathered, and even mortified inwardly..' From the accounts recieved, the writer considers her life in the greatest danger. 'There is another invalid who the nation will probably have soon to mourn for'.
