    Letter from Mary Yorke to Lady Lucas, sent from Forthampton. Reference to memorial to writer's husband James Yorke. The Dean of Christ Church, Oxford [Cyril Jackson], who corrected the inscription, has since resigned that post. It will be a great satisfaction to the writer when the momument is placed in the church, following which Mr Blore will be paid.

    Reference to current affairs; writer hopes the successes are forerunners of greater, 'yet the force against us in Spain is very formidable.' Reference to news received from Lord Somers, who had received letters from his military sons. Writer has seen Lord & Lady Eliot, who came to dine, bringing Miss Lemon with them. Mrs Agneta Yorke did not accompany them - the writer speculates on her relcutance to move. If she remains at Down Ampney till the 2nd week of September, when Mrs Raynsford leaves, the writer has offered to go and visit. Would be grateful for the book of Valentia's travels and a small box of mourning cards - arrangements given for delivery. Death of Lady Hume [Lady Amelia Hume, nee Egerton]
