  • Scope and Content
Handwritten letter from Edith Maria Grimmer in Bungay, Suffolk to Honora Grimmer dated 7th March 1917: "My dear Nora, Mother joins with me in thanking you very much for the photo of yourself you so kindly sent. It's very kind of you to think of us - I am so sorry I have not written to you for so long - I seem to have very little time. I am trying to do a little to help John on the farm, so go out daily and help with the flock feeding etc. How are you all. It was very sad losing both your grand-parents, so soon one after the other. How are you, all well I hope - please give my love to all in Ampthill when you will. How are Aunt Bertha and Beattie. Are they living together at Cambridge. I am glad to tell you John is still at home - he has an exemption time he keeps on the farm. The weather is very cold, cannot get along with the spring corn sowing. I hope we shall soon have some nice warm weather. Gertie is quite well and getting along well at Thorpe. I think she will be coming home at Easter. We often talk of the lovely motor which cousin Albert gave us to go and see her. We shall all be very pleased to see you when you can come. I daresay Easter is a bit early, it seems so cold - but you must please yourself - let us know. Tell your father when you write we hope before the summer is over we hope to see hime and his wife and any that can come - we are looking forward already at seeing them. We are all quite well and send our kind love to you, believe me. Your affec Cousin E M Grimmer"
